Why Give?

The average dwelling in Kibera is an eight foot by eight foot hut, made with walls of mud and covered by a tin roof. There are no bathrooms in the homes. Instead, up to 50 homes will share one communal, pay-to-use bathroom and shower hut. Only 20% of the population has electricity and the average salary of someone who can find employment is $39 USD per month. Adults and children with developmental disabilities are often cast out, misunderstood, and overlooked. New Beginnings is helping to re-educate the population and better integrate these individuals in their communities.
